Company Vision:
"We want the greatest Challenge: To entertain People" Akos Divianszky, Co-founder, Invictus
"Making games is not just our job, or our goal. It's our Life" Denes Nagymathe, Lead Programmer, Invictus
"Our goal is to develop top quality cost effective products, for both players and publishers" Tamas Kozak, Managing Director, Invictus
History:
Invictus was established as an independent game development studio in 1992 by Tamas Kozak and Akos Divianszky with the aim of developing state of the art computer entertainment software. Achieving this would entail the development of cutting edge technologies, to be combined with creative game ideas and new exciting gameplay. Building on our early success we decided to restructure and expand the company in 2000. This restructure included relocating to our new office building and a name change to: Invictus-Games Ltd. In that same year we were also delighted to welcome Denes Nagymathe to the board of Directors; his revolutionary design and programming ideas are a vital part of our development efforts. He also continues to fulfill the role of Lead Programmer spearheading our technical innovations and working closely with our programming team.
Location:
Invictus is proud to be one of the leading game-developers of the Eastern-Central European Region. Headquartered in Hungary, our international approach to development has seen us working closely with publishers such as Codemasters, based in the UK and US-based Activision.
Dev Team:
Our expanding company comprises more than 20 talented and experienced individuals each skilled in their own particular discipline, be it managerial, art, programming, design or audio. With further expansion planned, our new offices will allow us to accommodate many more additions to the development team. One of Invictus' major strengths is our staff and we believe another is our approach to product development in general. We continually strive to improve all aspects of the development process, drawing on our strong creative skills and enthusiastic team to add something new and fresh to each game we work on.
Invictus technology:
The second generation of the Invictus engine technology is capable of producing many different types of game and has been designed to be both modular and platform independent. That said, we have recently been specializing in driving games with support for multiplayer, online and split screen features. We also understand that the development of a product can be approached in many different ways and to that end we are happy to incorporate third-party middleware with our dev tools if this is deemed necessary, based on the schedule / costing requirements of each project. To date our engine technology has been successfully tested on PS2 dev kits and we are a registered Sony Playstation2 developer. One of our latest updated modules incorporates a brand new 'true 3D' physics engine. We embarked on its development in January of 2001 and believe we have now the capability to deliver the most accurate body, running-gear and engine simulation ever to appear in video games. Because each of our 'vehicles' is constructed from separate 'physics objects' with their own physical properties, we are able to include the following features in our games:
- Complete body deformation 'Flapping' doors and other attached parts
- Vehicles can 'fall apart' in crashes or over time
- Accurate simulation of internal engine damage
- Vehicles constructed from more than 50 individual parts
- Car-body painting and customization method including decals
- Real time and 'in-game' tuning, repairing and assembling capabilities
- Realistic handling of 2, 4 -16 wheeled vehicles
- Accurate simulation of the effects of air and fluids (e.g. water)
- Simulation of Front-, Rear-, and All-Wheel-Drive vehicles
- Surface simulation parameters allowing for On- and Off road driving conditions.
- Novel application of Dyno 2000 simulation based on real world parameters
Mission Statement:
Invictus was founded on an ambition to achieve excellence in gaming, a true understanding of what publishers and gamers want - and the ability to create it. Although a large part of video game development is technology-based and we always strive to be at the cutting edge of technical developments and innovations, we also intend to implement new creative, artistic and design ideas into our games. This policy remains at the heart of our development strategy, which will enable us to progress further into the exciting world of electronic entertainment. Based on these ambitions and our previous successes -plus the current strengths of our enthusiastic and expanding development team- we believe that Invictus is ideally placed to meet the demands of the continually evolving video game industry.
Our aims are to continue to work with publishers to develop products that are as elegantly crafted and technically impressive as the very best comparable products developed anywhere in the world.
However, perhaps our most important ambition is to provide players with video games that are both entertaining and fun to play; this goal is always uppermost in our minds.
