The Problem
Games have become Big Business. The budget required to make a game is tremendous, and with that kind of money on the line, game makers are reluctant to take risks. Sticking with the tried-and-true, safe genres and well-known licenses, the comfort of sequels and derivative products, the game industry has become stale and boring. Gone are the days where a tiny team of self-funded game developers can cobble something cool and original in their basement.
Or are they?
The Vision
Rampant Games is a small, independent game studio consisting of both industry veterans and newcomers to game development united by a common set of beliefs.
- We believe that it doesn't take $10 million to create fun, nor does a game have to be expensive to be of value to the player.
- We believe that innovation should be more than just a new feature on a the latest sequel or clone.
- We believe that game developers and game players should be the ones deciding what games should be made, not corporate committees and marketing departments.
What Have We Done Lately?
The members of the team at Rampant Games have been involved in a number of successful (and some not-so-successful) games in the past for the PC and game consoles, including:
Twisted Metal, Warhawk, Outwars, Jet Moto, Snowmobile Championship Racing, Jet Moto 2, Animorphs, Streak, ECW2: Anarchy Rulz, and Links 2004.
More recently, we released first title, the exciting space combat game Void War, and have more titles in development. We're also working closely with other independent software studios to make many of the best "indie" games available here on this site!
