Horrible Game, Decent Treatment of the Subject Matter

As a mechanical game SCMRPG was horrible. Lots of easy encouters. No real challenge. Challenges came in the form of unexplained game mechanics, etc. The PC characters are overpowered, and the engine doesn't do anything special. Clearly, not much effort was put into balancing the game. It is very tedious, and for that reason I don't want to replay it.

The designers did seem to put a lot of effort into the non-mechanical, storytelling aspects of the game. There are lots of pictures, quotes, etc. All of this ought to be thought provoking, but it is drown in lots of easy battles. Admittedly, the bar for thought provoking games is low.

If you want to kill a weekend, give SCMRPG a try.
