Frictional Games

Frictional Games develops a 3D game engine that supports the latest graphics and physics technologies(Newton Game Dynamics). We use the engine to power our games and most recently we released the horror game Penumbra.

The core idea behind Frictional Games is to create first person oriented games that explores physics as a game play element. With Penumbra we have successfully demonstrated this practice by creating an experience that sent shock-waves across the Internet, making Penumbra one of the most successful "freeware" game releases in 2006.

Currently we are continuing the work on Penumbra and the engine, mainly to improve key areas to allow for modifications done by third parties. This includes the ability to create new content for Penumbra, expand the languages supported and further down the road the ability to create whole new games.
