Spending money you ain't got...

Well, I have got it, sort of, in the form of a motorcycle that I don't use anymore. Anyway, how's this relevant to this site? Years ago, before I got caught up in the real world, I used to be a musician/sound engineer/producer/promoter (mostly all at the same time). I've not dabbled seriously since then despite having plenty of kit knocking about. Anyway, ever since I was medically discharged from the military I've spent most of my times playing games and writing massive tactics guides for clans and getting annoyed at the horrendous (spelling?) inaccuracies (spelling again?) in military sims. Anyway, I decided to get all my music gear hooked up again; just a couple of synths, a modern electronic drumkit (ROLAND), guitars and basses. Using a sequencer on the PC tends to be frustrating when using non midi instruments and I much prefer the old fashioned method; a sequencer tends to herd you into one dimensional writing. So, a small multitrack was on the cards. These days a digital 4 track is enough for a home studio & solo projects as there's no loss of fidelity when bouncing tracks. Of course, I had to buy a new guitar as well, after all, if the motorcycle goes, I need something inanimate to love. Welcome home a new Schecter S-1 Elite. The rest of the gear doesn't arrive until next week, but I'm looking forward to some much needed creativity. One of the biggest positives of modern music making is that it can all be stored digitally and in multiple formats. First things first, replace some of the dire music that comes with games these days...
