Its Hard To Rate This Game, Therefore Its a 10

Most games you'd give a 10 to have brillaint polish combined with a moderately innovative mechanic that is pulled off well, for instance an IGN reviewer might give FFXII a 10 because its gambit system, pacing and visual oddysee are wholly compelling, for what a Final Fantasy game is worth.

Super Columbine is not well executed, it has a few pacing issues that are needlessly frustrating (the lack of explicit need for grabbing Ecce Homo in the upstairs classroom, the lack of explanation of the camera's mechanics, the difficulty in setting bombs in the cafeteria) a clunky UI and 1991 quality graphics. At least, its not well executed in the traditional sense that we define quality game development. But its brilliantly executed in tersm of writing, aesthetic touches (like MIDI versions of seminal 90s angst songs) and the radical innovation of its psychological dynamic.

Super Columbine Massacre, if it were only just a bold take on a touchy issue, would score a seven from me, but it handles it with such poise, pushing RPG Maker to its expressive limits, and sets a bar not just for our medium's scope, but also for the grace with which bold issues are treated.

My favorite games? Planescape Torment, System Shock 2, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Myth, Final Fantasy VI, Super Columbine Massacre RPG.
