The Tale of 3 Vikings

Vikings are Cooler than Worms Anyhow

A Tale of Three Vikings is a classic cannon game. If you've played one of the many versions of Worms, you're familiar with the gameplay; you have a cannon whose elevation you can alter, enemies approach from screen right, you blow them up. Over time, you advance your cannon to the left, until you've completed the level, and move onto the next one.

It's a time-tested and entertaining style of game, but also one that works far better in 2D than 3D, and in the world of big-budget games, 2D is dead. So bravo to Total Gameplay for reviving it so elegantly in this tight little title.

The Developer Says

The Tale of 3 Vikings: all the action of an artillery game is back but this time with different attitudes!

In this game, you control 3 vikings and a cannon to save the villages of Puddleton from a hordes of Orcs, Witches, Skeletons and Dragons.

The graphics are cute and colorful and would appeal to anyone who is looking for fun and relaxing game to try...

For those of you who remember Worms would be familiar with this game - but instead of shooting worms, you work out with Orcs and Witches!

In this game, you control 3 little Vikings and a cannon. You task is to save village folks from Orcs, Skeletons and Monsters which happened to escape from a Hollywood movie scene and rage havoc on nearby villages.

As the story unfolds, you would need to work out the mystery of "who-is-behind-all-this" along with 3 vikings as they are solving who drops all those mysterious scripts along the way and who is under-covered as Witch Macdonald. This kind of detective story is a welcome addition to otherwise linear shooting game.

Like other Artillery games, you need to work out shooting angle and power to target enemies successfully. Shooting is easier than most game of this type and many weapons compensate for aiming error. So this is not only for artillery fans of Worm but would appeal to other fans as well.

However, there is some strategy involved in choosing which weapons to use. Choose most powerful weapons and your money would run out quickly. So you need to select your arsenal wisely depending on current circumstance.

There are a lots of weapons to choose from and, as expected, include some funny weapons like Chicken Bomb and Shark Attack (which actually come out a Shark and eat the target!).

Unlike other game of this genre, this game is a level-based and definitely has a good story to follow.

There are 3 modes of gameplay including Story Mode, Survival Mode and Two Players Mode where you can go head-to-head with your friends.

Features

  • control 3 little Vikings each with unique ability like shooting cannon, building rail-roads and making weapons
  • kill Orcs, Skeletons, Spiders, Evil Knights, Witchs, Dragons and many more.
  • 3 Modes of Gameplay: Story, Survival, Two Players
  • more than 50 weapons to use
  • nice opening with comic-style story telling... and closing too!

If you read the above and thought "I like cannon games, and the setting of Vikings versus classic fantasy monster hordes sounds good" then I suggest you buy this game. If you aren't sure about either, then try the demo. It's a fun, well designed game, challenging but not taxing. I give it a 6 because it's good and fun, but only moderately above expectations. I feel like I got my $20's worth, but don't need to call my friends up and tell them to buy it immediately.

Good work TGP, you've made a solid game.
