I was sitting and watching my cat face off against one of his many foes, the bathroom door, when it occurred to me that a cool game could be made from playing a cat. You've got your platforming elements, as you try to leap from floor to countertop to refrigerator to top of the cupboards, you've got your hunting and combat elements, obviously, and you have your boss battles against the ents (humans) roaming your domain.
Then I remembered...it's been done:

Interesting indeed. And almost eminently fungible, marketwise. Which is to say, I don't necessarily see a big overlap between the audience for my game of Felix Domesticus, and the deer game, the squirrel game otoh, seems a natural. :-)
There have been other sorts of wildlife games. Maxis gave us SimAnt. And I keep seeing a copy of Mr. Mosquito for the PS2 floating around the used bins at one of my local EBStops.

I recall Alley Cat and Wolf as well.
Exquisite pieces of days gone by.

We'll breach the 2D game engine conventions yet!
Any Cat game should definitely have lounging in it.
