The inclusion of StarForce DRM has kept me from checking out Dreamfall (along with a few dozen other games) so far. Does the version that's here at Manifesto have it, or does it use some other copy protection?
We're offering the same version offered by Funcom--so yes, if it has Starforce, then I imagine ours does to. In general, our policy is not to offer games with Starforce that we host ourselves, but we're offering this as a Funcom affiliate, in essence.
okie doke. Thanks!
eek! icky icky icky! It's such a shame that developers are resorting to using Starforce nowadays. What's their perspective on the issue that would justify them subjecting customers to something they sure-as-hell wouldn't want on their own computers? It's kept me away from Freedom Force vs The Third Reich, and it's quite a shame, too. I loved the first and was really hoping to play the second one.
Actually it might be good to check on that.. from what I understand StarForce's method is to inject itself as a (ring 0?) IDE driver and do weird things and checks to the CD before allowing the software to start.. there's been a lot of reports of problems after installing it.
Now if this is a digital delivery... can they still use SF ?
And thanks for the heads up, indeed if SF in included I don't think I'd take the chance.. (search engines are your friends - look SF up..)
I'll have to echo the above comments. I had serious problems with my computer after installing a Starforce game (UFO: Aftershock if it matters) and would never subject myself to that kind of treatment again, regardless of how good I heard the game was.
