Would it make sense to "carry" user-created scenarios for games like SpiderWeb's Blades of Avernum/BoE?

I don't know how many games have user-created scenarios/levels, but for the ones that do, it might be nice to have on-or-off-site links to them, as a way of getting people to come back regularly.

One of the features I like about certain games is the ability to get more content from other users, but it might not lead to direct sales, though.

Michael:

Absolutely--we don't really have a system to make it easy to do that at present, which bears thinking about. Note that we already provide one large mod (the Urban Chaos mod for Jagged Alliance)--And I'm happy to provide others. Unlike UC, it probably doesn't make sense to create a "game" page for each, but to have someplace for users to contribute links or upload files....

Costik, I don't think you ever frequented Gonegold.com back when it existed, but they had something called the GoldGuide which was a page for every game that included links to the game page, patches, demo downloads, tons of reviews, and tons of fan sites.

Perhaps you want to adapt something like that for use here? You're already listing review scores and publisher homepages, of course. Oooh, will you be listing patch downloads as well?

Sounds like a good idea...
But in general, yes, whenever there's a patch, we want both to offer it and to update our installer so that it doesn't need to be patched thereafter.

In theory, our partners are contractually obliged to tell us when a patch is released (unless it's a game that patches automatically, as most MMOs do), so we can track this. But of course theory is no the same as pratice.
