Ants launch secret night mission to take over kitchen!

Just what it says! Those sugar poppin' work horses invaded the kitchen over night in massive numbers. I should've known somwthing was up when I saw their massive trail out front along the side of the house the previous day, which is no longer there, they ALL must have come in. Well that's to damn bad for them, the cat's have taken interest in them again, plus the insect spray can hungers for destruction.

The Shark game is goin' great. Maybe just another month before the bulk of the stage content is wrapped up. Here's a few pics of the last three I've been working on.

Two Months Later?

I think I've been working on it for two months. Ignored the blog a few weeks ago, again. That's ok, things are going great. I'm close to finishing up stage 3, that includes a pier you can tear to pieces and fisher dudes that are excited to catch anything. I think about 6 more stages to go. Well, gotta get back to it. Here's a few screenies of the above mentioned.

One Month Later...

I got lazy and ignored the blog a few weeks ago, but that's ok, time was spen else where, like here for instance. At the moment the game is called The Great White Destroyer. You play a shark who's wrecking everyones shite at the behest of his shark god. It boils down to lasting as long as you can while getting as many points as possible. There's a frenzy meter that fills when you kill/destroy something. When it caps out you go temporarily blood crazy, with more speed and strength. You score also gets bonuses and entities spawn in faster. What do I have done so far, the scoring system, collision jazz, frenzy system, player, 4 types of fish, swimmers, stage1, and a good deal of sfx. A few more screenshots.

Touch ups.

These last few weeks I've spent going over all my completed content, and fixing any problems found. Also, adding graphic assets that I skipped over, a few extra animations here or there, a couple sound effects, background art, that kind of thing. I'm gearing up to set Snowball aside for a few months while I do a small arcadey game I'd like to have ready for YoYoGames' site. It's one of those "you can play for free but have to put up with ads" thing. I'd like to offer up a non ad version for a little dough, depends on the feedback I get on it. More details in a few weeks.

Boss Worm is done. Ants invade.

I got that monsta finished and working excellent. Just got a few sequences to link him into and it's forward ho. Bugs, sound fx, music, save system, the rest of the game, all that jazz. Ants are invading my kitchen. They're probably tired of being kooked up in their hole due to the never ending winter(as am I), and have decided to shop around for my families' food! That's ok, because we got 6 ant loving cats who enjoy snacking them down like popcorn. That is if the cats aren't rolling around on top of the ants, they do love ant pherimones.

>>>Title goes here.<<<

Didn't get as much done as I'd like this last couple weeks. I did finish all the boss related artwork, it just took longer than expected, but I should have known, the damn thing is maybe 5 times larger than the average character sprite in this game. I'm satisfied with how it turned out, it was a nice stopping place for the weekend.

What the hell?

I actually got more done than I thought I would these last few weeks. I finished all the character stuff for that puzzle room I mention last post, as well as everything else related to that room. Now it's onto the first boss encounter, so I'll be doing more scripting and new art/animation. After that it's onto sound and music. Then that'll pretty much be the first chunk of the game finished. I plan on letting some close friends play through that section for testing and general input. Yay!

I just have to say that it is a wierd kind of awesome when all this work over time finally starts to look like something real. I'm jazzed.

Time passes, stuff gets done.

Let's see here, since my last post I've gotten another room finished, with a special version of the cave worm, which spawns a key on defeat. Got the key coded so it respawns if thrown in the drink or off the screen. I also persists if you drop it somewhere and leave. Got some more character scripting/action/code done, they now are capable of livin' about the place regardless of where the player is. Got the door art/code done that the key is for.

Ok, now for the next few weeks I'll be doing more character scripting jazz, some interactions and convos involving the key and door. After that it's onto a puzzle room.

I haven't linked to my site updates for a while, this week sees some info on the cave worm.

Cave worms and other things.

I'd also like to report that one of my cats like to eat potato skin. Wierd.

Happy new year, in case you didn't know.

Ok, during the holiday break I screwed around with a few game ideas, put some stuff to paper for future consideration. I just started working working about 3 days ago. So far I've gotten another character in with all his required code and art for one encounter. I started working on the next room, got it's lighting finished. In the near future I'll be making a key object and another version of the cave worm, swap up some colors on it and give it more hit points, tweak the timing on a few of it's actions.

Now that's out of the way, thank God for that holiday break. I desperately needed to get away from this for a few weeks, now I'm rested up and going through work lickity split.

Thanksgiving recovery successful!

Good God, so much foooooood. I'm starting to think that the absolute bliss of all that good food and family doesn't justify the digestinal horror that awaits. Ha, of course it does! Anyhow, some things I accomplished since my last digital upchuck...

-added a new npc, got all his essential art and animation done, got'em coded for a series of scripted events
-got another npc's body art(head rendered seperately) and animation done for a scripted sequence
-ate turkey, turkey, stuuuufing, mashed potatoes, yams, beans and weenies, awesome-o-eggs, greenbeans, unholy amounts of pumpkin pie

Doesn't seem like much, but it was. It seems most of my hours goes into the artwork portion of the game, especially when multiple angles are required. Hey hey, I updated my site, but it's such a lousy one I'm not going to bother linking to it. To damn lazy at the moment, sorry.
