Sex Dolls
Virtually Jenna is, in essence, a virtual doll application. That is to say, it comes with a variety of 3D modelled dolls, and a variety of clothing and accessories you can apply to them--albeit, given the nature of this application, the clothing tends to go in the direction of lingerie, latex, and lace, and the accessories are mainly sex toys of one kind or another. As with other doll applications, there are also a variety of settings in which you can place your dolls; unlike doll applications aimed at the normal consumers of dolls, once you do so, your dolls can engage in a variety of sexual acrobatics with each other.
We asked the developer if this was a game, and he responded, "Sure! You have to make her cum." Well, yes; this does qualify as a "goal" in Costikyan's schema, or as a "quantifiable outcome" in Salen & Zimmerman's, so perhaps one can consider it a game. In some sense.
As a game qua game, of course, there's not a huge amount here; no level-based missions and not much in the way of resource management, though there is a bit of interface mastery required to do such things as caress a nipple. Of course, the aesthetic here isn't the norm for a computer game--the draw is the context and the eroticism of the visuals, rather than the appeal to fiero.
The demo contains one setting, two characters (one based on Jenna Jameson, and one a generic male), and a limited number of accoutrements. All of the other characters activated with a subscription are female, allowing you to engage in what, in this context, is often referred to as "hot girl-on-girl action." Ahem.
The business model is a tad harsh--$30/a month, or a three-day subscription for $10. Unusual from a gaming perspective, though less so from that of the pr0n industry, to be sure. Still, perhaps worth checking out, if only to see how game concepts can be applied to, ah, rather different subject matter.
